The Massive
Open Online Course (MOOC) is a web-based platform that provides an unlimited
number of students around the world the opportunity for an online education
with the best institutes in the world. It was established in the year 2008 and
gained momentum in the year 2012 as a popular educational tool. Many MOOCs have
communities with interactive sessions and forums between students, professors,
and teaching assistants (TAs) along with study / course materials and video
lectures.
Therefore, if there is a specific course that you would like
to follow but cannot, you have the option to consider a MOOC for your chosen
higher education track.
How it works?
Think of it as an online platform where students and
educators come together and form a collection of online resources, which can be
used with ease. You have the option to listen to lectures, download notes,
contribute yourself, and most importantly, share your point of view by communicating
with your colleagues. Practical grids make it look like a virtual online
classroom.
